Journo FC gained a well-earned three points in an outstanding 5-2 win against AC Me Rollin, in their first game back after Christmas.
It was no surprise that Journo FC were leading with three-goals at half-time, through their “dominant brand of attacking possession-based football, against a team of a really high quality.”
Forward Tyrhys Luko, current top scorer for the season, embedded his scoring prowess and talent with a hat-trick and an assist.
Despite starting him in a deeper role, Champion claims Tyrhys’ move further forward led to the vital second and third goals.
Champion continued to praise his performance, “I can’t speak highly enough of him. Week in, week out, he’s turning up scoring the goals.”
Additionally, Champion congratulates Alex Ward for winning Man of the Match.
“I think he played absolutely unbelievably well,” Champion states, “he was playing for the team, stopping them, taking quick free kicks, winning the ball back, passing and defending really well in a really tough game.”
Despite AC Me Rollin scoring a penalty in the 68th minute, Champion believes the true challenge of the game was stopping their counterattack.
Next up for Journo FC is UoP Football development team on the February 12th, and Champion hopes Journo FC will, “retain their positivity, whilst keeping that mentality of winning.”
With the win leading Journo FC to the top of the league, Champion states, “I keep telling the boys we have to win every game and I think it’s settling in now that to play is to win, and that’s what we’ve got to do.”
